You can use felt, embroider or use safety eyes/nose.
♡Use whatever yarn colors you wish for
this project.

Yarn & Material Substitutions
As with any amigurumi pattern, your choice of yarn and hook size will directly affect the final size, structure, and overall appearance of your finished strawberry cat plushie.
I personally prefer to use 100% cotton yarn for this design. Cotton is absolutely incredible for amigurumi because it gives your plushie clean, crisp stitch definition, meaning the cute cat ears and strawberry details will really pop. Cotton also has very little stretch, which provides a sturdy structure that helps the cat hold its shape well.
However, feel free to raid your yarn stash, and experiment! Here are a few alternative materials you could use and how they will change your project:
• Super Bulky Chenille or Blanket Yarn: Want a larger, huggable version of this cat? Substitute the cotton yarn for a thick blanket yarn and jump up to a 5.0mm or 6.0mm hook! This will instantly scale up the pattern, hiding minor stitch mistakes and making the cat extra squishy, and incredibly soft to hold.
• Worst Weight Acrylic Yarn: If you choose a standard acrylic yarn (like Red Heart Super Saver or Caron Simply Soft), your cat will be roughly the same size as the cotton version but will have a slightly softer, fuzzier texture. You will want to use a 2.5mm or 3.0mm hook so your tension stays tight enough to keep the poly-fil stuffing from peeking through your stitches.
• Velvet Yarn: If you want a plush feel but don’t want to make a blanket-yarn plushie, a Medium (4) weight (or smaller) velvet yarn is an amazing substitute. It will give your strawberry cat a shiny, vintage toy texture while keeping the finished piece compact and desk-sized.
Whichever yarn you choose, the golden rule of amigurumi is to use a hook size slightly smaller than what the yarn label recommends. This ensures your tension is tight and seamless. It might not look exactly like the featured prototype, but it will still come out incredibly cute, and unique to you!
